Delta 22-470 24" Planer
The Delta 22-470 is a high caliber industrial planer designed for continuous usage in industry. Large and heavy construction makes the unit ideal for plants, schools, furniture shops and just about anyone else. The frame of the 22-470 is of high quality cast iron construction for maximum service life and no vibration. Precision ground flats have been milled on the face of both left and right castings that the table assembly rides on, assuring perfect alignment and stability. The table consists of a solid one piece ribbed casting, providing exceptional support for planing even the longest pieces of stock. Built in bed rollers ease the feed process, and are fully adjustable via a convenient up front hand lever, allowing the operator to quickly set them for any type of task. The front of the table has two steel adjustable gibs that ride alongside the iron frame of the planer body. These gibs allow the operator to make any adjustments to take up slack in the table movement, should wear occur in the operational life of the planer. Elevation of the table is made easy by means of a large cast iron hand wheel on the right side of the machine. Controls for the feed rate are easily accessed and changed up front via a convenient hand lever. The 22-470 is equipped to run at two speeds, 20 feet per minute for final finishing and finer cuts, and 30 feet per minute for rougher cuts and general sizing. The unit has a precision machined solid steel cutterhead of three gibbed straight knife configuration. The inner works of the machine are easily accessed by means of a series of doors. The cutterhead and feed works are accessed by simply removing the top steel hood, the drive train and electricals are easily accessed by a series of louvered doors, conveniently located for routine maintenance. The planer is powered by a 7.5 HP 230/460 volt three phase TEFC induction motor, driving the cutterhead via dual matching v belts at 5,000 RPM for a fine finish.
