Delta 22-790X 15" Planer with Deluxe Stand
The Delta 22-790X has been designed to be one of the finest 15" planers ever manufactured. The cabinet assembly is built on a base of two steel box tube legs on each side for exceptional stability under load with adjustable rubber leveling feet, and the cabinet assembly is designed to be as rugged as the very castings it supports. The cast-iron bed is precision ground to a smooth, lustrous finish with two fully-adjustable infeed rollers to facilitate smooth stock feeding. The roller equipped extension tables are not only the longest infeed and outfeed tables in its class, but also fold down to make the machine suitable for storage in the smallest of spaces. The built in feed rollers make handling stock, wide or long an extremely simple operation. The planing head moves on four precision ground cast iron columns that enclose a chain and sprocket raising assembly for precise and even elevation of the head. The 22-790X also features the drive and power transmission mounted atop the head, rather than cabinet, eliminating the time-consuming work of re-adjusting auxiliary work supports per any movement of the elevation wheel. The cutterhead is of the three-knife variety, forged from a solid steel billet, turned and balanced to ensure no vibration is present. A 3 HP 220 volt 3450 RPM TEFC induction motor, coupled with a triple v-belt drive system transmits maximum power to the cutterhead, allowing it to produce a cutting speed of 13,000 cuts per minute. A solid steel serrated spiral infeed roller provides maximum surface contact to feed any wood, thick or thin, soft or hard, rough or smooth through the cutterhead, whilst a soft outfeed roller provides a secure, mar free means of outfeed support. The sealed gearbox assembly provides three feed speeds. 16 feet per minute, for roughing stock down to close dimensions, 0 feet per minute, should the work piece need be stopped in an emergency, and 30 feet per minute for a smooth final finish.
