The Delta 46-460 lathe has lived up to it's advertising for a mid-sized wood lathe. The motor has proved powerful enough to handle projects for the lathe size. The variable speed along with the ease of belt adjustment is worth the extra money. Many people on their web site reviews said that the Delta 46-460 is a good machine to learn the basics of wood turning, without spending over a thousand dollars. I agree. The cost of turning tools, different chucks, spindles and other needed toys will get you there soon enough. But that's true with any hobby.The customer service during ordering and the delivery time from CPO was excellent..
Pros:
Price, finish, quiet operation and size.Cons:
Nothing at this time. I could see the need for a lathe that handles larger stock if one would want to turn large bowls, vases , etc.I would recommend this item to a friend.
Best Midi Lathe on the Market

Have turned several bowls and a bunch of pens. Plus a couple of inside/outside turnings.Pros:
The extra horsepower over other lathes.Motor has reverse, which is very helpful with sanding.
Motor runs cool.
The 12 and 1/2 inch clearance which allows larger bowl turnings.
Lathe is heavy enough to withstand larger turnings.
The variable speed is First Class.
Centers line up perfectly.
Well built machine!
Cons:
Metal in tool rests is too soft. Even after only one turning, the top surface is uneven and has to be filed flat in order to get more smooth turnings.I would recommend this item to a friend.

The extension bed isn't included. Sorry about the confusion. The features tab we put to put some extra information that wouldn't fit in the Highlights tab. This model does have an electric speed control, i'm not sure why the video shows it as a standard. If you have any additional questions please let me know, I hope this is helpful.
