Replaced my older router top.
By Mark from Twin Cities on December 1, 2014
I bought this to replace my older, sort-of beat up router top (non cast iron).
First, I had heard some reviews that these tops were not flat, but some were bowed/cupped.
Although this top was not 100% perfectly flat, it was well within any reasonable tolerances.
I used an aluminum Veritas straight edge to check it.
My "old" router table is a Woodhaven Tools cabinet with a plywood top to attach the router top to.
Because all the mounting screw holes on the bottom of this cast iron top are made for their (Excalibur brand) steel stand, I had to devise another way.
Measuring involves more work and isn't always foolproof (me being the "fool" here).
So I got four bolts that fit the thread size on four of the mounting points on the bottom of the cast iron top. I then
cut off the heads of the four bolts, ground the ends of the bolts down to a point. Then inserted them back into the holes with just a short amount protruding.
I already calculated how much overhang I should end up with on each side of my cabinet and then carefully maneuvered the top so that it was correctly positioned, then took a rubber hammer and banged hard on the cast iron top, thus making sure that the four bolt points would leave an indentation.
I then drilled the four holes out on my wooden router table top and the cast iron top fits great.

Simply being cast iron makes about any motorized tool run smoother because of the mass.
It also looks good........
That Excalibur didn't include a template for fitting their top on something else than their own steel stand.

Just What I Was Looking For
By SN from Colorado on July 7, 2014
I was in need of building a new router table top since my old top was sagging and the job of fitting my original router plate was not the best. I had just purchased a Woodpecker's PRL-V2 lift (standard plate) and P-C 7518 motor with the intent of building a new top. I then saw a Bench Dog cast iron router table setup at a woodworking store and felt some buyer's remorse for not getting a lift/plate that would fit the Bench Dog cast iron table. Someone mentioned the Excalibur cast iron router table top on a Sawmill Creek thread and I had to investigate. Tools-Plus carried the top, but I was concerned that the PRL-V2 standard plate lift might not fit in the table top. I contacted Excalibur and they said that they had fit Woodpecker's plates in their cast iron top. I pulled the trigger on the top and placed my order with Tools-Plus. The top was shipped the same day and arrived in about a week. The table top was well packs and arrived in good condition (all 94 lbs of it). I have the Excalibur cast iron router table top setup on my old router cabinet and the Woodpecker's lift/plate fits perfectly. The table is dead flat (maybe a very slight crown, which is preferable). It is easily the nicest piece of cast iron in my shop. All-in-all, this is one of the best additions to my shop that I have made in quite some time. Thanks Tools-Plus and thanks to Excalibur for building an excellent product.
Size, quality and utility.

Great table - VERY heavy!
By Nathalee from Houston, Texas on June 26, 2014
I was very happy with the service provided by tools plus. I received my table in about a week and have been extremely satisfied thus far.
It was VERY easy to assemble - virtually no assembly, just drop the table top on and secure!
This table will not mount to the KREG stand, I think it is only capable to mount on the Excalibur stand or build your own.

This is a great table
By robmeier from new jersey on May 28, 2014
I've only had this table 2 weeks but it is a great table. It also supports many types of router fences: the excalibur 40-080, the Jessum 04100 and the Kreg without having to customize anything.
nice and heavy

Great Value
By Preston from Illinois on March 6, 2014
The fit and finish of this product is excellent. This item is perfectly flat in reference to my beveled Mitutoyo engineering square and other squaring equipment that I have. I am using this table with an Incra LS Super Fence to hopefully build a high quality precision router table. Keep in mind that this is the only cast iron top that I could find for a standard size router table plate. If you buy the bench dog cast iron top you not only have to pay more for it, but you also may need to buy a new plate that fits their opening. I am using a woodpecker plate and it fits real snug, especially with woodpeckers spring loaded lock on the side. I expect that I will never have to replace this router table.
Flatness maintained for decades.
Excellent fit and finish.
Great miter slots. There are two.
It is pricey, but then again the price is comparable to MDF and phenolic table tops that you will have to eventually replace. It is about $100 more then its MDF/phenolic competitors, but well worth it.
