Since 1982, GenTran Corporation has been the leading manufacturer of transfer switches and their accessories. If you don't like to work your transfer switch manually, perhaps you would prefer the ATS2002R. This automatic transfer switch has a pretty big capacity, it's able to accommodate up to 38 household circuits, as well as any stationary generator up to 50,000 watts. This accepts circuit breakers from a wide range of manufacturers, including Siemens, Square D, Cutler-Hammer and GE. It's important to have a power source at the ready, but without an excellent transfer switch like the Americah-made ATS2002R, you might as well not even have a generator.

• One (1) Ovation Series ATS 200A 4 Circuit Transfer Switch

One exapmle of how this 200amp 3R service rated auto transfer switch might be used: Place it outside next to your meter. Take the output wire leaving the meter and input it into the ATS2002R. Do the same with the Generator power. Then out from the ATS2002R and into your curent 200amp (or smaller) circuit panel and no more choosing which circuits to hardwire, ALL your circuits are electrified. With optional but available Load Shedding your wife can cook and if necessary your A/C unit will turn off if the amperage is needed at the oven or stove, and turn back on once there is enough amperage to run the A/C.
