Rock Pick / Chipping Hammers
section within our Hand Tools departmentThe Rock Pick, also known as a chipping hammer or Geologist's hammer, is used for geological purposes, including collecting rock samples and finding fossils. The main components of a rock pick is the flat head and either a pick or chisel at the other end. The flat head is primarily used to split rock with one accurate blow. The pick head comes to a sharp point, which focuses the pressure of a hammer strike making it ideal for harder rock and exposing minerals. The chisel head is wider than the pick head and is fit for clearing vegetation and increases the effectiveness of splitting rocks with smaller hammers.
