section within our Hand Tools departmentHacksaws traditionally feature a strong, u-shaped frame that holds a narrow blade at high tension to keep it from twisting or bending during cutting. Some newer models have frames that only span about half the length of the blade, but still perform as well as full sized saws. Regardless of the frame style, most hacksaws provide a means to angle the blade relative to the frame. This provides clearance between blade and frame in cases where a deep cut is needed on a long work piece or when a cut must be made sideways. A hacksaw is traditionally used for hand-sawing both non-ferrous metals and mild steel, however, it can also cut most plastics, fiberglass and other dense materials quite easily.
