Compass and Trammel Points
section within our Hand Tools departmentEven the most skilled and steady hand cannot make a perfect free hand circle. Compasses ensure a constant radius circle every time. A traditional compass features two parts connected by a hinge with a pencil at the end of one part and a sharp point at the other. A beam compass uses trammel points connected by a beam. They work in the same manor, by setting a radius and keeping one point fixed while moving the other about it.
