This ancient joint was first found in a boat called the Khufu Ship which was found sealed in a pit at the base of the Great Pyramid of Gaza. In the 1800s, the Greenlee brothers invented the world's first hollow chisel mortiser. Over 200 years later, the design and concept remains unchanged. Hollow chisel mortisers provide an efficient way to cut mortises quickly and reliably. The drill bit clears out the material in the cut and leaves edges that are straight and clean. We carry benchtop units which are ideal for home, school and production shops, while our floor model units are a great fit for industrial factories.
