By utilizing a spindle assembly rather than collets, cutters can be stacked, and even run in reverse on the shaper. The amount of height travel is far greater on the shaper than that of a router table, and features rare on a router table have been standard on shapers for years, such as above the table cutter changes, micro adjustable fences, dust collection, digital readout, and more. Shapers use larger cutters at lower speeds, and this, coupled by their large induction motors, provides a smoother, far more powerful cut than routers can deliver. While an industry standard, shapers are also a welcome addition to a home shop of any size from trusted manufactuer's like Delta, General, Jet and Powermatic.
