The Makita UC120DWD Cordless Chainsaw is a great "little" tool that does a big job. Lightweight, not too large, well-balanced, it can clear brush, small trees and chop up downed trees up to 4 inches diameter. Suggest you buy a spare (2.6 Ah- Model 1234) battery so you are always ready to continue working. And order some eye protection--it is not a toy, however small. Only problem was one of the original 2 batteries we got was a very tight fit, both in, but especially pulling out. Surprisingly the "Made in China" was the one that fit well, and the "Made in USA" was the one that had the problem. Called Tools-Plus, they promptly e-mailed a prepaid UPS return label and within a few days we had a replacement battery, no hassles. Thank you, Tools-Plus--and great prices too-- will definitely buy from Tools-Plus again.

Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), the traditional technology for power tool batteries, has reached its capacity ceiling. With end-users demanding longer run-times and better performance, it is necessary to convert to Nickel Metal Hydride, a technology with a much higher capacity limit. Ni-MH has similar characteristics to Ni-Cd, in that it accepts fast and continuous charging, as well as holding up to the rugged performance demands of professional power tool users.

The new Ni-MH batteries will work in all existing Makita cordless power tools that have corresponding voltages and sizes. A Ni-MH charger must be used to charge the batteries, which is accomplished in an hour. In addition, the Ni-MH charger accepts all Ni-MH and Ni-Cd batteries Makita makes.
