For over one hundred years, Porter-Cable has built a rich history as one of the leaders of quality and innovation in handheld power tools. Porter-Cable started as a manufacturer of mechanical pencil sharpeners in 1906 in the city of Syracuse, New York. The company soon expanded to the power tool market and established itself as the best name in handheld routers. In the 1960s, Porter-Cable Tools was purchased by Rockwell International and sold with the same name where it continued to offer innovative and well-built tools such as the Porta-Plane, SawBoss, and of course their famous routers. Since then, Porter-Cable re-emerged as part of Black and Decker under the same name, with the same quality, but new tools, including their 890 series of routers. Porter-Cable offers the finest pneumatic nailers, routers, and dovetail jigs, as well as many other tools.
