Interestingly enough, the early circular saw was invented by Tabitha Babbitt of Massachusetts in the early 1800s. Although the female inventor never patented her invention, she is credited with the invention. Babbitt was inspired to make the work of local sawyers easier and created the first circular saw after she saw that the two-man pitsaw wasn't as efficient of a tool as it could be. Now, cordless circular saws make cutting wood or metal more convenient. Cordless circular saws are available in a variety of makes and models, including ones made especially for cutting metal.
