Author Jeremy Broun loved the router so much he wrote an entire book about the versatile tool. In his book, The Incredible Router, he dubbed the router the "most important tool in the world." Routers are woodworking tools that are used to hollow out an area on a piece of wood, for example, making a pattern in a piece of trim or finishing moulding. The earliest routers were in fact, used for staircase making. Today, there are many varieties of routers such as plunge routers, trim routers and sheetrock and drywall routers. The process of routing includes cutting, trimming and shaping-done at a very high speed.
