Sanders & Polishers

Sanders are popular tools in both the construction and auto body industries. When used in woodworking, sanders can smooth out wood or wood finishes. There are several varieties of sanders available based on your particular sanding needs. Belt sanders come in a variety of sizes and are mostly used in the beginning stages of a sanding project. Detail sanders are smaller, hand-held sanders that work best for corners and tight areas. Random orbit sanders (also referred to as a dual-action or DA sander) run at high speeds and produce smoother finishes. Belt sanders tend to be used for rougher sanding. These sanders remove large amount of material with each pass and can shave down even the roughest surfaces. The result is less refined surface so they are often used in conjunction with other sanders. Their revolving belts help reduce clogging and uneven sanding and they're a great option for portable, brute force sanding.

Disc Sanders and Polishers are great for automotive work and woodworking, but can also be useful for many other tasks. Polishers are perfect for bringing out the natural shine of any painted surface and can really speed up many tedious tasks. Many of these units can double as disc sanders as well. Adjust the speed and change your disc and you're ready to tackle a multitude of sanding projects.

Random Orbit sanders are popular finishing sanders. These tools use a combination of spinning the disc are moving the pad in an elliptical pattern to produce a random result. Since this tool combines these 2 movements it is often referred to as a dual action sander. The result is a tool that can ignore the direction of grain and avoid producing swirl marks.

Linear sanders have been developed to fill a gap left by other tools. Random orbit, sheet palm, belt and disc sanders are incapable of dealing with curved and edged surfaces. Joints, rabbets, and corners have previously required non-machinated sanding which creates more dust and requires more time. Once again, advancing technology has solved a problem that has bugged tool users for years.
