All the positive reviews and comments that I have read in woodworker mags and chat rooms about this machine are true. My experience with this bandsaw, so far, has shown me that this is a quality product.Pros:
It is powerfull and amazingly quiet.Cons:
The guard on the lower blade guide does not swing open enough to change the saw blade easily. The bolts on the guard must be loosened in order to facilitate the change.I would recommend this item to a friend.
Powermatic PM1800 bandsaw

This is my third 18 inch bandsaw that I have owned. While I had reservations about the cost associated with this item after doing my research I found that this one brought so much more to the table than what I consider it's closest competitor for my money; the Laguna LT18. In the beginning I couldn't get past the guides on the Laguna which are great for resawing, however cutting bowl blanks really isn't a precise operation. Ironically, how that I have the unit and can toy with the guides, I can't imagine them being any more accessable or precise to set. The quides on the powermatic are huge. Which brings me to my final point that makes this purchase feel so good, it is well...the feel. The controls on this machine are smooth, the startup and running is quiet and solid because it weighs hundreds of pounds more than its sports car competitor. When it comes to your bandsaw, don't you want weight, power, precision, and table space? This one is the wise choice over powder blue.Pros:
