The story of Powermatic starts back in the 1920s when a local lumber yard manager began to design and build planers in his own garage. These machines quickly became known and revered in the area, and in 1928, Leonard F. Smith opened The Powermatic Machine Company of McMinnville, Tennessee. Since these humble beginnings, Powermatic has grown to be known as one of the highest quality brands in the industry. Their most well noted product, the Model #66 cabinet saw has become the favorite cabinet saw of shop owners far and wide, being produced for over forty straight years, with little change. Powermatic has also stepped out with its new line of machinery focusing on convenience, performance and power.
