A scraper that works - Sandvik / Bahco 665

Have used this product for 15 years, having gone through 3 replacement blades. Main use was scraping off 50 years of varnish from a white-pine log cabin. Lots of nooks and crannies, that the blade negotiated with ease. Using 2 hands allows for fine pressure adjustments, which helps avoid scoring the wood. One-handed scrapers cannot get through multiple layers of hard coatings. There is almost no dust, and it is just as fast as a belt sander on all but the longest runs.For flat surfaces, such as our cedar shutters, scraping with the grain leaves a surface that may not even need sanding.
The carbide blades last a long time. I have not tried to re-sharpen, but I suspect one can. It also helps that the blades are reversible.
There is far less fatigue than with any other method I have tried. I think the handle is the reason; it is equallly comfortable to left and right-handed use, and I have never challenged my carpal tunnel.

Cons:
It comes in a narrower blade model. I would like to try it with a 4 inch blade, which Sandvik apparently does not make.I would recommend this item to a friend.
