Super transaction!!!!!
First off, Vendor ToolsPlus had best price online, I ordered and some how the saw arrived next day. Absolutely no problems.

Saw is great. I watched a few videos and actual item lived up to the billing and claims. It is lightweight, solid, well made and powerful for a small chain saw. it jumps when you pull the trigger.
Its a top handle so it is very easy to drop the left hand and swing it one handed, Its dangerous and I force myself to keep both hands with firm grip.
Proswell made, powerful, starts easily, great price.easy fuel and oil fill, large volume for a little saw. time will tell if it lasts.
Conssmall items, the brake bar is a little flimsy, it functions well, but it needs a redesign to make it more sturdy. the exact chain model number can not be found by google search, oregon has a similar chain, but not one with the G suffix. I bought the closest i could find as a spare, have not installed it yet. I did not contact tools plus for the chain and in fairness i should have. out of 100 i score the saw a 98, well worth what I paid for it. its better made than the chinese stihl saws of similar price.

Great saw, great value!
This is my second Tanaka- the first one lasted about 25 years and was the smaller of two or three saws I've had over that timeframe. I cut about 6-10 face cords a year. This year good access has me up to about 15. Most of the cutting is with she smaller saw and the 12" Tanaka is great. If I had only one saw I'd probably go with the 14". On larger logs the longer bar is helpful and more cutting teeth means each one is doing less cutting and thus less potential to overheat the cutting teeth.

This is a top handle saw which some feel compromises kick-back safety because your hands are closer together than on rear handle saws. It does have a chain brake. I've been using top handle many years and regardless of the saw type I maintain awareness of kickback so haven't had a problem with that. Previous Tanaka didn't have chain brake.
ProsStarts nicely, cuts well, easy to handle, fairly light weight. The other saw I have is a 16" Stihl. Also a good saw, but heavier and unnecessary for anything under about 12- 14". The new Tanaka is more fuel efficient, too. 7 year warranty for home use beats all the others.
ConsShipping took awhile. But it arrived when they said it would. For some reason it didn't ship quickly.
